Unicoi is a small town, and it stays that way on purpose — it's more countryside and forest edge than it is downtown. With the Cherokee National Forest and the surrounding ridgelines right there, a lot of the housing stock is older homes on larger lots, mixed in with mountain- and forest-adjacent properties and a run of newer and seasonal homes built for people who want to be close to the woods rather than close to town.
